Norderhov old chapel renovated for Christmas
The old stone chapel in Norderhov has finally been renovated inside in time for Christmas. The vicar is pretty happy with the result where the soapstone door entrance and window frames have been restored. Also the old ceiling construction has been brought out in old glory which restores the authentic church room as it must have felt like hundreds of years ago.
The pews have been painted close to their original white-wash color and will seat 20 persons + 4 in the front next to the altar. It will still take a while before electricity is installed but the old brass candelabras adds a special intimacy to the room. During the renovation a flag stone with the inscription 1171 was found, and it is expected to come on display as soon as the local museum has finished their work.
The vicar says the chapel will be open for Christmas for any hypergrid traveler who want to seek shelter, have a silent moment or share with others. It has been decorated with garland made of holy for the festivity ahead.
He also hopes the chapel can be used by anyone who wants a sacred room for prayers, sermons or even marriages and welcomes everyone.

xmir mesh products now available across the metaverse
With the addition of the OMC currency xmir mesh products are now available to an even larger group of customers ranging from SecondLife, via the Kitely Marketplace which distribute to a number of grids – both closed and hypergrid connected, to the xmir grid where our products are offered to hypergrid travelers who already are established with the OMC currency on their grid, have a customer account with VirWOX or simply want to do some shopping.
A new vendor has been developed with links to the product on the Kitely Marketplace or to the VirWoX currency market if a customer needs get more OMC or create an account before shopping. The new vendors have been placed both at the xmir mesh store and the Boötes store. These vendors will soon be seen in SecondLife in the Concinna xmir mesh store offering customers to purchase direct, via the SecondLife Marketplace or to purchase Linden Dollar via VirWOX.
Both the xmir mesh and Boötes stores will offer select products or product ranges only available on the xmir grid, in addition to a good selection of free products for visitors to bring home.
xmir adds the OMC currency to the grid
The OMC provides Hypergrid travelers with great flexibility for making payments and help establish an economy for the XMIR grid. In selecting a currency the OMC provides the most flexible options in making payment transactions in addition to supporting PayPal.
To help establish an economy for the grid, XMIR has added support for taking payments in the OMC currency established by Virvox.
With over 340.000 registered users on the Virvox Exchange, the exchange provides a wide option for trading virtual currencies both between Hypergrid users and SecondLife users, in addition to facilitating BitCoin transactions.
"Many European virtual world users are not able to make payment transactions with PayPal, and Virvox was therefore a natural choice as a currency for the grid” says Gavin Hird, founder of XMIR.
In addition to standard credit cards and PayPal, Virvox lets people transfer money via Sofort Banking, paysafecard, Ukash, Skrill (Moneybrokers) and OKPAY.
By registering avatars on non-hypergrid virtual worlds such as Avination and SecondLife on Virvox it is easy to transfer money between these grids and Hypergrid based grids that accept the OMC.
People with the ability to mine or make transactions in Bitcoin can also exchange crypto currency funds to other virtual currencies including the OMC. This can make it more attractive for some to participate in virtual world economies.
While XMIR will continue to build an increasing selection of products on the Kitely Marketplace, not everyone can make payments with PayPal something that limits the reach of products sold there. Adding the OMC gives us more flexibility to reach more customers with our products in addition to facilitate establishment of other merchants and services on the grid.
We believe that establishing solid virtual economies outside the for now “de facto” SecondLife economy is important both for content creators and the ability of many new residents who don’t have the time or inclination to build everything they require for their virtual existence from scratch. In addition establishment of such economies is paramount for providing SecondLife residents viable alternatives as SecondLife reach maturity and Linden Lab develops their second generation virtual world which will be less compatible with the vast selection of virtual content that exist, while OpenSim for the foreseeable future will retain close to 100% compatibility with it.

Is Apple entering the virtual reality space?
Apple has been markedly absent from the virtual reality space where the interest has been growing after facebook acquired the Oculus Rift virtual reality device earlier this year.
As revealed by 9to5mac Apple is now in the market to hire engineers to build user interfaces and “high performance apps that integrate with Virtual Reality systems for prototyping and user testing.” This must be seen in light of an Apple patent that was filed in May 2008, and that was granted in December last year for a "goggle system for providing a personal media viewing experience to a user “.
As always with Apple, they are mum on the use of the patent keeping it a secret that will usually only be revealed to the devlopers and public once the product is close to go to market.
