Apple has been markedly absent from the virtual reality space where the interest has been growing after facebook acquired the Oculus Rift virtual reality device earlier this year.
As revealed by 9to5mac Apple is now in the market to hire engineers to build user interfaces and “high performance apps that integrate with Virtual Reality systems for prototyping and user testing.” This must be seen in light of an Apple patent that was filed in May 2008, and that was granted in December last year for a "goggle system for providing a personal media viewing experience to a user “.
As always with Apple, they are mum on the use of the patent keeping it a secret that will usually only be revealed to the devlopers and public once the product is close to go to market.
